Curated by Yanni Pounartzis

Greek-Australians have a voice, and this exhibition speaks to the depth of their artistic excellence - talent that is widespread but not always celebrated as it deserves. In the true Greek spirit encapsulated by the word filotimo, the artists have generously come together to give back to the community that shaped them.
Filotimo celebrates that rich diaspora, bringing artists and viewers together to explore shared histories and the enduring cultural connection between Australia and Greece. Through work rooted in Greek heritage, the exhibition infuses contemporary Australian art with the depth of Greece’s cultural legacy, a visual expression of cross-cultural engagement that is distinctly Greek-Australian.
In doing so, it reflects the enduring influence of Australia’s Greek diaspora. It reinforces the nation’s broader multicultural identity, a reminder of how diverse backgrounds continue to shape its creative and cultural fabric.
